Miguel Gonçalves Silva (tenor) was born in Portugal. He graduated from Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa (Lisbon Music Academy) with a bachelor’s degree in vocal performance. The choral conducting technique lessons that he had during his studies inspired him to return to the Academy for a second bachelor’s, this time in choral conducting and music education.
In Portugal Miguel was a singer in the Coro Gulbenkian that collaborated with a number of internationally acclaimed musicians, and also sang in the Lisbon Gregorian Choir (Coro Gregoriano de Lisboa).
Miguel’s wish to broaden his musical knowledge brought him to Estonia where he received a master’s degree in choral conducting from the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre (Toomas Kapten’s class).
Miguel joined the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir in November 2021.
