Alfred Schnittke (1934–1998)
– Psalms of Repentance
Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir
Conductor Kaspars Putninš
The iconic work of the world choral classics.
This superb piece is written in 1988 by one of the most important composers of the 20th century, Alfred Schnittke, to celebrate the 1000th anniversary of Christiany in Russia. He used the old Russian texts about sin and yearning for redemption as the bases to his diverse and mosaic-like music, where old is combined with new. The result is original, masterful and wonderful enriched with the composers own experience and deep belief. The journey with Psalms of Repentance is not simple, but enchanting – it is a deep and sincere pray.
Tickets 15/10 € in Piletilevi and Piletimaailm and an hour before the concert at the venue.
